Radikale Symbiose I – Transformation Pernitz
Betreuer: Lorenzo De Chiffre
This project aims to challenge traditional approaches to urban development by advocating for a ‘creative demolition’ strategy to liberate green spaces in a shrinking city like Trieste. Our primary goal is to enhance the quality of life for the city’s current population of 220,000 rather than pursuing outdated population growth targets from previous decades.
We will focus on revitalizing dilapidated buildings and abandoned plots, transforming them into community green spaces that serve as hubs for social interaction and grassroots initiatives.
Our approach involves collaborating closely with local stakeholders during an on-site excursion in April. Utilizing experimental techniques such as large-scale models, photography, and video, we will design these ‚hidden gardens‘ to be vibrant and inclusive spaces.
While each team member will develop their unique perspective and design approach, our studio will foster a collective discourse through collaborative exercises throughout the semester.
